About Us

We are U.S. FIRST Robotics Team 2246, The Army Of Sum. We are located in Johannesburg, Michigan. We come from a small town with big dreams. Our goal is to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathmatics) as well as any applied arts.

The Army of Sum mentors do their best to teach students independence. We're proud to say that our alumni have went on to persue the fields of computer science and engineering. Others have left here persuing advertisement and event management. FIRST Robotics introduces a whole new world to students. Without this robotics program, many of the students coming from Johannesburg-Lewiston High School would not have persued careers in STEM.

What is FIRST Robotics?

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is composed of high school-aged teams competing head to head on a special playing field with robots they have designed, built, and programmed.

FIRST Robotics

Under strict rules, limited resources, and the guidance of volunteer mentors including engineers, teachers, business professionals, parents, alumni and more, teams of students have just six weeks to build and program robots to perform challenging tasks against a field of competitors. These robots weight up to 120 pounds. Teams must also raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and perform community outreach. In addition to learning valuable STEM and life skills, participants are eligible to apply for $25+ million in college scholarships.
